also known as FIFA world cup, the World cup is an international football tournament which is played by men’s national teams belonging to the global governing body of football federation called FIFA. The competition is held after every four years since it was started in 1930 and only during the Second World War when it was not held in 1942.
There is a qualification phase where teams play in three years before the main event where only thirty-two teams qualify for the tournament. The host team qualifies automatically.

Also, Brazil is the only team that has played in all the tournaments that have been held. Germany and Italy are second having won the world cup four times each. Winners of the tournament two times each are Uruguay and Argentina while one time winners of the world cup are England, Spain and France.
The world cup is the most widely viewed competition worldwide and attracts a large number of followers in the sports category globally. The trophy being one of the most precious trophies in the world, the winner gets a huge amount of money from the competition.
There is a bidding procedure that is carried out by the Federation committee of twenty-two members who vote, vet and determine which country to host the world cup tournament. The 2018 hosting rights winners were Russia and the 21st tournament is set to be held in Russia from June 14th to July 15th. This will be the first world cup competition to be held in eastern Europe.
The tournament will involve the thirty two national teams including one automatic host national team and the qualifying thirty one. Matches scheduled to be played at different venues set by FIFA will sum up to sixty four and the final be played in Moscow.
The defending champions currently are Germany and will try to defend it if they get a qualifier spot. The world cup host benefit a lot.
